Here’s a few pictures of some freestanding pieces made for unmatched alcoves. The veneer is Bombay rosewood, note how it’s matched across the doors and drawer fronts, with a dark red lacquered interior, the leg design is particularly high to clear the skirting and radiator on the left or the door wouldn’t open fully. The 2 pieces work as a pair but have different configurations according to their proportions. These pieces were designed to for a bedroom as feature pieces with plenty of storage and useful internal drawers with cable routes for things like mobile phone chargers, they’re a good example of why having bespoke pieces made isn’t restricted to fitted pieces, all bespoke furniture should achieve a higher level of functionality, quality and relevant design, in this instance it would be difficult to find a pair of cabinets that sat so well in the unequally sized alcoves and functioned the way the end user wished without commissioning the design and manufacture of them.
