Any contemporary home will benefit from bespoke furniture, bespoke meaning ‘made to measure’. When you’re in need of a new table, a sideboard, a wardrobe or home office desk it can mean days of searching for the product that’s right both functionally and aesthetically. For a piece of production furniture it’s difficult to design in everything and keep the costs down, so compromises are made, and the end user has to make do.
By going bespoke you get what you want, exactly what you want. With Couture Furniture the bespoke process involves briefing a designer about what the furniture has got to do, like hide a TV, or provide a work surface and filing, or seat 12 people comfortably for dinner etc. A design proposal is presented and reviewed with the customer, details and materials are discussed and agreed before commissioning the piece to be manufactured. At Couture all the furniture is manufactured using timbers with the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approval for sustainability by master craftsmen, some of whom have been with us since leaving school and gone on to complete professional qualifications through day release at college and others who have studied full time degrees in furniture studies and furniture design. They all work in our London workshop, upholding the tradition of British furniture making at it’s best, they can rightly pride themselves on the quality of the furniture they are designing and producing.
