Wishing you a happy new year from all at Couture Furniture.  After a fab Christmas break we are straight back to making fine furniture for the contemporary home. The following piece is an AV cabinet that was designed to hold a large flatscreen TV and AV equipment. The drawers have been specially designed to house DVD’s in one drawer and Guitar Hero in the other. A simple sliding door guarantees easy access to audio visual and gaming equipment. A stainless steel base was engineered to ensure that the large flatscreen would be well supported but be invisible except for the legs. We used a 10% water based lacquer, choosing oak to compliment the flooring, with a standard RAL Light grey nicely complimenting the rest of the interior.

The following shows an example of a headboard which was designed around an existing bed and headboard. The timber headboard has an alcove for the fabric headboard with a polished black acrylic back panel giving an effect of subtle reflected light framing the bed. Features include 2 x illuminated shelves, 2 x reading lights and 2 x box shelves also with concealed night lighting with all the wiring concealed and black rocker switches dicreetly but conveniently positioned. In the rear of the open box shelves are telephone and power sockets (also black) for powered bedside items. Although it’s not entirely clear in the photograph a stepped plinth lightens the whole look of the headboard lifting it in line with the skirting board.
